It started out as a mental exercise, joining the 16 Merlin Sites sensibly by road. Then it became a personal adventure, until a friend suggested I used the opportunity to do some good and raise money. In the past I have supported Sands, I-Can, Asthma UK amongst others, each with a personal connection to my family or friends. But in this instance, my mind went straight to the "Cornwall Blood Bikes". I mean c'mon, I'm travelling over 3,000 miles on a motorbike and these good people often visit us at Lands End Airport (My main place of work) either dropping off transfusion blood etc or collecting samples and tests.
They completed nearly 7000 jobs last year, covering over 200,000 miles, saving lives and helping to make things better for those with medical conditions and needing tests and results. If you are local to Cornwall you will see them out on the roads and if you are further afield you may well see the other blood bike charities operating in your own county......
You can read more about the Cornwall Blood Bikes here https://cornwallbloodbikes.org/
and to help them in their work, you can donate here https://localgiving.org/fundraising/3000miles/
